SPEAKER:  Linda Dale Hoffa, Esquire of Dilworth Paxson

The Delaware County Estate Planning Council in conjunction with the Orphans’ Court Education Committee of our Bar Association presents a program on White Collar Fraud.  Linda Dale Hoffa will cover certain issues including:

What every business person needs to understand about criminal liability:  When the Government comes knocking at your door – what to do?   When should you go to the Government?

How the practice of criminal law differs from the practice of civil law:  Fraud – what is it? When does a lie become a crime?    Brief primer on the basic principles of individual and corporate criminal liability and Personal criminal liability of officers, directors, managers, and subordinate employees

It doesn’t take much to be in trouble: conspiracy law / aiding and abetting / obstruction

Linda Dale Hoffa is Chair of the White Collar/Government Investigations Practice Group at Dilworth Paxson LLP in Philadelphia and focuses her practice in the areas of criminal defense and counseling, internal corporate investigations, and corporate compliance programs.  Before joining Dilworth, Linda was the Chief of the Criminal Division for the US Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia and served as the Chair of the Criminal Chiefs Working Group for the US Department of Justice (DOJ).  In the 111th Congress, Linda was Senior Criminal Counsel in the US Senate Judiciary Committee for the late Sen. Arlen Specter.  She was on the Executive Staff at the PA Attorney General’s Office and earlier served as the Executive Deputy General Counsel at the PA Governor’s Office of General Counsel, where she handled criminal related issues for all Commonwealth agencies. Linda was elected Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and on their behalf in 2016 presented a mock trial before Justices of the United States Supreme Court and Justices from the United Kingdom, which was part of the U.K. and U.S. Exchange.. Linda twice received from DOJ the Director’s Award for Superior Performance for her trial work on complex cases.  Linda earned her undergraduate degree (magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa) and law degree from Rutgers University, and is admitted to practice before all the state and federal courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, in addition to the U.S. Supreme Court.
