December, 2018 – The Delaware County Estate Planning Council participated in a holiday gift drive benefitting Children and Youth Services (CYS) of Delaware County. The gift drive was initiated in coordination with CYS Family Support Worker, Megan Ward and directly benefitted the “Adopt a Family” Holiday Program of the Citizens Advisory Committee of CYS. Many Delaware County Estate Planning Council members contributed wish list items such as clothes, toys, books, and games, for two designated families sponsored by the program. In addition, several other members brought generous cash and gift card donations to the Council’s holiday party. The gift cards were donated to the two adopted families and cash donations were used by Executive Director, Donna Willis, to purchase additional items on each family’s wish list. On December 19, Board Member, Phil Zimmerman, Council President, John Sontowski, and Council Vice President, Chris Peifer, met with CYS staff to drop off the Council’s donation at CYS’s Eddystone location.
Children and Youth Services (CYS) works directly with children and families in times of crisis, providing “a wide range of services to abused and neglected children from birth to age 18, and their families.” They provide coverage throughout all townships of Delaware County, with offices in Upper Darby and Eddystone.
